Fourteen students participating in the 2015 Journalism in July Workshop July 12-19 at the University of Texas, El Paso, took their cameras, audio recorders and notebooks to Segundo Barrio to learn and share the stories of the people living and working in one of El Paso’s oldest and proudest neighborhoods. The students began their training on campus with lectures and demonstrations on traditional newsgathering and new multimedia skills taught by professors and area news professionals. Then they went into field to apply their new skills in professional news reporting followed by video editing and web posting.
