The application for the 2027 Dow Jones News Fund internship program is now live. College students are invited to apply for paid summer internships in audience engagement, business reporting, data journalism, digital media and multiplatform editing.

The application deadline is Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2026. Applicants must also complete a qualifying test by Nov. 15, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time.

If selected, this program includes:

  • Placement in a newsroom for a paid summer internship (median salary is $675/week)
  • One week of specialized, all-expenses-paid pre-internship training
  • $1,500 scholarship for college tuition, if eligible
  • One-year membership to a professional journalism organization
  • Access to industry mentors and the DJNF peer and alumni network

The Dow Jones News Fund offers internships with complimentary training in five areas:

Audience Engagement: Help a newsroom reach its audience through analytics, SEO, social media, newsletters, news curation and other audience-development strategies.

Business Reporting: Cover topics ranging from Wall Street to Main Street, the economy, markets, labor, real estate, climate, agriculture and the automotive industry.

Data Journalism: File public-records requests, analyze and clean data, support investigative reporting and build data visualizations or interactive tools.

Digital Media: Broaden your skills in content creation from video to photography to podcasting to audience engagement. Heavy emphasis on producing social videos.Multiplatform

Editing: Learn to edit for accuracy, completeness, tone and style; write headlines; strengthen SEO; and design pages on deadline.

HOW TO APPLY
Complete the online application by Nov. 11. Applicants should be prepared to submit a résumé, an unofficial transcript, a self-recorded video response, a personal essay of no more than 500 words and three to five work samples combined into one PDF or Word document. Applicants must also provide contact information for two references.

Within a day or two after submitting the application, applicants will receive an email from the News Fund with a link to take the qualifying test. The test must be completed by Nov. 15 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time. Practice tests and answer keys are available online.

ELIGIBILITY
College sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students who are enrolled full-time by Nov. 11, 2026, are eligible, including December graduates. U.S. students studying abroad and international students already in the United States with authorization to work are also eligible.
